15th International Sports Film Festival Zlatibor Concludes with Awards and Special Recognitions
The curtain came down last night at the Zlatibor Cultural Centre on the 15th edition of the International Sports Film Festival Zlatibor, which once again brought together a distinguished gathering of sports legends and filmmakers at Serbia’s renowned mountain destination.
Filmmakers from around the world took part in this year’s competition, with 36 films focusing on sport and sporting achievements competing for the festival’s awards. Held under the motto “A Tradition That Celebrates the Perseverance of Champions,” this year’s festival once again welcomed some of the biggest names in sport, including Dejan “Rambo” Petkovic, Dane Korica, Slavka Kanjevac and Goran Maksimovic. Through a rich programme of accompanying events and activities, the festival promoted sport and its enduring mission of bringing people together.
The Festival Organising Committee presented two special recognitions: one to the television series All the Lives of Siniša Mihajlović, by Goran Andjelkovic, and the other to the film Her Own Among the Ropes (Svoja među konopcima) from Croatia, directed by Aleksandra Markovic and Mislav Brcko.
The closing ceremony also saw the presentation of the International Sports Film Festival’s awards and recognitions, based on the decisions of the festival’s expert jury. This year, the jury consisted of film director Darko Bajic, journalist Aleksandar Avramović, and dramaturge Metka Dedakovic.
The festival’s Special Recognitions for Contribution to Film and Sport were awarded to Peaks of Silence (Vrhovi tišine) from Serbia, by Zikica Jovanovic; Your Mountain of Support (Tvoja planina podrške) from Türkiye, by Gökçe Kan Demirkan; and The Wedding of the Century (Venčanje veka) from Serbia, by Dragan R. Filipovic.
The award for the Best Film Highlighting High Moral Values in Sport went to Mostar Swallow (Mostarska lasta) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, by Muhamed Bikic.
The award for the Best Film on a Sports Personality was presented to Pele, Dzaja, Slavka from Serbia, by Dragana Kanjevac.
The award for Best Cinematography, Design and Innovation in Film went to Nothing More Beautiful Could Exist in the World (Na svetu ništa lepse, ne moze da postoji) from Serbia, by Filip Colovic.
The award for Best Short Fiction Film went to The Fight from the United Kingdom, by Anthony Petrou.
The award for Best Short Documentary Film was presented to Tem from Spain, by Diego Poncelet.
The award for Best Mid-Length Documentary Film went to More Than a Game, More Than Life (Vise od igre, vise od zivota) from Montenegro, by Milutin Grgur.
The award for Best Feature-Length Documentary Film went to Amazon March (Mars Amazonki) from Bulgaria, by Borislav Kolev.
The Dinko Tucaković Award for Best Documentary Film Direction was presented to Vujke, the One and Only (Vujke, jedan jedini) from Serbia, by Grada Brankovic.
The Grand Prix of the 15th International Sports Film Festival Zlatibor was awarded to Shadows of Everest (Senke Everesta) from Serbia, by Aleksandar Milosavljevic.
The International Sports Film Festival Zlatibor is organised by the Municipality of Cajetina and the Zlatibor Tourist Organisation. The festival is a member of the international network of sports film festivals based in Milan and is recognised as one of Europe’s leading festivals dedicated to sports cinema.
Once again this year, the festival lived up to the expectations of filmmakers, audiences and numerous sports legends, who actively took part in the 15th International Sports Film Festival and enjoyed the natural beauty and many tourist attractions of Zlatibor.
