The 15th Zlatibor International Sports Film Festival was announced at the press conference
On Thursday, August 13, a press conference was held in the building of the Yugoslav Cinematheque in Belgrade on the occasion of the 15th International Sports Film Festival Zlatibor, which will be held from August 20 to 23 at the Cultural Center in Zlatibor.
At the conference, the program of the jubilee edition of the festival was presented, the winners of the festival awards were announced, as well as the contents that will bring together numerous filmmakers, athletes, artists, journalists and sports and film fans during the four festival days.
The director of the Festival, Olivera Nikitović, presented the program of the 15th edition and announced the winners of awards for outstanding contribution to sports and film, as well as awards for life’s work. This year’s festival will be opened on Thursday, August 20, at 6 p.m. in the Zlatibor Cultural Center, when festival awards will be presented.
Among this year’s laureates are Dejan Rambo Petković, Branka Batinić, Slavka Kanjevac, Goran Maksimović, Stevan Kovačević, Dane Korica, table tennis club “Jedinstvo”, Yugoslav sports club Partizan, as well as Edin Avdić, who will be awarded posthumously. The “Nataša Kovačević” Charter will also be presented – a recognition dedicated to a hero of sports and life, while Luka Bilčar is among this year’s laureates for his contribution to the development of Paralympic sports.
The artistic director of the Festival, Jovan Marković, spoke about the history and origin of the Zlatibor International Sports Film Festival, as well as its importance for Zlatibor and the cultural life of this region.
“The festival was born out of the need to preserve and present great sports stories through film, as well as the values that sport carries – perseverance, struggle, fair play, friendship. In 15 years, the Festival has become a recognizable event that connects sports and art and is an important part of the cultural offer of Zlatibor,” said Marković.
He emphasized that the jubilee is an opportunity to remember the people who created and supported the Festival over the years, but also to look at its future development and the importance of preserving this unique artistic event.
Director of the Zlatibor Tourist Organization, Vladimir Živanović, invited all guests, sports and film fans, as well as media representatives, to visit Zlatibor during August and be part of the jubilee festival.
“The Zlatibor International Sports Film Festival is one of the significant events that enriches the tourist and cultural offer of Zlatibor. The festival connects sports, film and tourism in a special way and attracts guests from the country and abroad every year. We want this year’s festival to be an opportunity for new acquaintances, meetings and enjoyment of quality film and sports content. We invite everyone to come to Zlatibor and be our guests,” said Živanović.
The jubilee 15th International Sports Film Festival Zlatibor starts on August 20, and the opening ceremony will be held at 6 pm in the Zlatibor Cultural Center. After the opening ceremony, the audience can expect a program dedicated to great sports figures, including the film “Pele, Džaja, Slavka 31”, while the new lineup of the Zlatibor Basketball Club for the upcoming season will be presented later in the evening.
During the festival days, the audience will have the opportunity to watch selected works dedicated to sports, athletes and people who have left their mark on sports and society with their work and life stories.
The special value of the festival is that for 15 years it has preserved authentic sports stories from being forgotten and through film art promotes the values of sports, as well as the creativity of local and international authors.
The Zlatibor International Sports Film Festival takes place from August 20 to 23 at the Cultural Center in Zlatibor.
The festival is organized by the International Sports Film Festival Zlatibor and partners, with the support of the Municipality of Čajetina and the Zlatibor Tourist Organization.
