
“The Best Goalkeeper in the World” Wins Top Prize at the 12th International Sports Film Festival
The 12th International Sports Film Festival concluded successfully last night, August 27, 2023, with a closing ceremony and the presentation of awards to the best documentary filmmakers.
The Festival’s Organizing Committee decided to present three special awards for outstanding contributions to film and sport.
The first special award went to the documentary “Čobo”, a video portrait of goalkeeper Slobodan Janjuš, produced by the Federal Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The second special award was presented to Nemanja Nešić from Užice, for his locally inspired documentary “When Reality Surpasses Imagination”, which reflects on the achievements of the Sloboda Užice football club.
The third special award went to Danijela Dragojević, journalist of the RTS Morning Program and an active marathon runner, for her film “To the Finish Line”.
Following the presentation of special awards, the main awards ceremony took place.
The award for the best film promoting high moral values in sport was presented to the German production “Who Am I – Elena Kravcova”, directed by Japanese filmmaker Yosuke Hosoi.
The award for the best film about a sports personality went to “Kobra’s Road to the Stars”, produced by Sport Klub and Sport Network (Belgrade), in collaboration with Sports Radio Skopje.
The award for best cinematography, design, and innovation was presented to the Spanish film “Egoland”, directed by Ignasi Lopez Fabregas.
The “Dinko Tucaković – Gold Gondola” Award for Best Documentary Direction was awarded to the Macedonian film “Lucky Thirteen”, produced by the Macedonian National Television.
The jury of the International Sports Film Festival also presents awards for short fiction films. This year’s winner was “Edi”, directed by Jan Vrhovnik, who lives and works in London.
The award for Best Feature-Length Documentary Film went to “Legends of Čair”, directed by Vladimir Ristić and produced by Oliver Paunović of City Group (Niš).
The Best Mid-Length Documentary Film award was given to “How We Fell in Love with Street Basketball”, written and edited by Vladimir Pajić, directed by Petar Petrović, and produced by Videostroj.
The Best Short Documentary Film award went to “Chris Nikic – The Ironman Story”, directed by Jen Stafford and distributed by the Special Olympics of Florida, USA, and Montenegro.
The Grand Prix Gold Gondola, the festival’s highest honor, was awarded to the feature-length documentary “The Best Goalkeeper in the World”, written by Katarina Sinđelić and directed by Vladimir Kurćubić, produced by PGM Network. The film was screened following the closing ceremony.
