6th International Sports Film Festival Opens on Zlatibor
The 6th International Sports Film Festival officially opened on June 29 at 7 PM at the “Serbia” Congress Center, marked by the presentation of Lifetime Achievement Awards to distinguished figures in sport and film, as well as the premiere screening of the film “Džajić”, dedicated to Dragan Džajić—a legendary Red Star icon. The film, directed by Sabahudin Topalbećirević, was exceptionally well received by the audience. Although the main protagonist was unable to attend due to surgery, he addressed attendees via video link.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipients include Dragan Džajić, Mirza Delibašić (posthumously), whose son accepted the award and delivered a heartfelt speech, water polo player Aleksandar Šoštar, and film director Zdravko Šotra.
Special recognitions were also presented to Veselin Jevrosimović, the Athletics Federation of Serbia, and the city of Tuzla for their dedication and achievements in promoting sport and physical culture. Tuzla, this year’s partner city of the Festival, will present its film “Dream of Circles”, highlighting the achievements of its most prominent athletes, on the second day of the event.
At the opening ceremony, attendees were welcomed by the Mayor of the Municipality of Čajetina, Milan Stamatović, who officially declared the Festival open. He emphasized that Zlatibor is increasingly becoming a strong link between tourism and film, attracting both industries and audiences from around the world.
The audience was also addressed by Nikolaj Parahovnik, Festival selector and founder of the Atlant International Sports Film Festival. He expressed his satisfaction at returning to Zlatibor and proposed that the Zlatibor Sports Film Festival represent Serbia within the international association of sports film festivals, which currently brings together 14 countries. Such a step, he noted, would significantly enhance Zlatibor’s global visibility and recognition.
