Zlatibor Sports Film Festival – Grand Prix Awarded to “1–0, Red Star’s First Final”
The 8th International Sports Film Festival “Zlatibor 2019” has concluded on Zlatibor, with the main award—the festival Grand Prix—presented to the film “1–0, Red Star’s First Final” by Milan Stojiljković and Steven Sireta. The film is a remarkable cinematic tribute to Red Star’s journey to the 1979 UEFA Cup final and the unfortunate defeat in the last match following a controversial penalty decision. Scenes depicting victories over Dynamo Dresden, Sporting Gijón, Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion, and Hertha recall a great generation of players in red-and-white jerseys and their legendary coach Branko Stanković.
The “Dinko Tucaković” Award for Best Director was presented to Serbian director Ivica Vidanović for the film “Golden Boys of the Seventies.” The award for Best Feature Film went to “Three Seconds for Eternity” by Russian director Anton Megerdichev. The jury (Vladimir Stanković, Nikolai Parokhovnik, and Dušan Vrakela) awarded Best Feature-Length Documentary to the Croatian film “Uvik isto”, directed by Slavica Šnur. The award for Best Short Documentary was given to “Martin Strel – The Man Who Swam the Amazon” by Dragan Stanojević.
The award for Best Film Promoting High Moral Values in Sport went to “Eyes Wide Open” by Marko Novaković, while the award for Best Film about a Sports Personality was presented to “Švabo from Sarajevo” by Sabahudin Topalbećirević. The award for Best Cinematography was given to Mehdi Amiri, Director of Photography of the Iranian film “Volleyball.”
Special recognitions at the festival were awarded to Arijana Saračević Helać for the film “Bosnia – 40 Years of the European Champion Title,” Bulgarian author Valentina Fidanova Kolarova for “Beyond the Jump,” as well as the film “The Spirit of Tel Aviv.” Festival recognition was also given to “Sreta – Grand Master of Wrestling,” while the City of Zrenjanin received the award as a City of Sport, presenting itself with the film “The Female Face of Sport in Zrenjanin.”
During the 8th Zlatibor Festival, dozens of films and television programs from 22 countries around the world were screened. The closing remarks were delivered by one of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipients, Gojko Mitić, after which the film “Sons of the Great Bear”, starring Mitić in the leading role, was screened.
