Minister of Culture Opens the 1st International Sports Film Festival

The 1st International Sports Film Festival officially opened with the screening of “Pierre de Coubertin: Master of the Olympic Rings,” a documentary by Russian director V. Satin, offering an insightful portrayal of the founder of the modern Olympic Games and his influence on their organization.

Following the screening, Bojana Božanić, a Member of Parliament from the Municipality of Čajetina, welcomed the audience and guests. The festival was then formally opened by Serbia’s Minister of Culture and Information, Bratislav Petković.

The opening ceremony was attended by numerous distinguished guests, including Nikolay Porokhovnik, Director of the “Atlant” Sports Film Festival from Russia; Vanya Dementieva, editor at TV Sofia from Bulgaria; director Gordan Matić; actors Tihomir Stanić, Branislav “Bane” Trifunović, Andrija Kuzmanović, Nenad Heraković, and Predrag Vasić; athlete Olivera Jeftić; boxer Milan Piperski; Nataša Janković, Director of the Sports and Olympism Foundation; Vojislav Janić, Director of Hotel “Palisad”; Arsen Đurić, Deputy Mayor of Čajetina; Darko Đurović, Director of the Zlatibor Tourist Organization; Nikola Smiljanić, Director of the Cultural and Sports Center Čajetina; and Snežana Đenić, Director of the “Ljubiša R. Đenić” Library.

Minister Petković emphasized that sport holds an important place within culture, highlighting that sport and culture have been closely intertwined since ancient times.

At the opening of the festival, the organizers presented the “Golden Pine” awards to individuals and institutions whose support made the festival possible. The award was presented to distinguished guest from Russia, Nikolay Porokhovnik; Vojislav Janić, Director of Hotel “Palisad”; directors Gordan Matić and Emir Kusturica; the cast and crew of the film “Montevideo, Taste of a Dream”; and the Olympic Committee of Serbia (the award was accepted by Nataša Janković on its behalf).
